The Reading Playground ("we," "us") offers reading tutoring for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email jessica@readingplayground.com.
Information we collect
When you take the free reading assessment and unlock the full report, we collect:
- Your first name and email address
- Your child's first name (optional) and grade
- Your child's assessment results, such as the reading skills shown and the next skill to work on
- Your answers to the questions about homework and reading time at home
When you book a reading consultation, we collect the details you enter in the booking calendar, such as your name, contact information and the time you choose.
When you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply.
About children's information
The reading assessment is designed to be completed by a parent or guardian sitting with their child. The parent enters all of the information. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
How we use your information
- To show you your child's assessment results and send you the full report
- To send you reading tips and activities by email (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To schedule and prepare for reading consultations
- To answer your questions
- To improve our assessment and tutoring programs
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who helps us run things
We use trusted service providers to operate the website and stay in touch with families. They only use your information to provide their service to us:
- Our customer and email platform (ScaleTutor, built on HighLevel), which stores contact details and assessment answers, sends our emails, and runs our booking calendar
- Our website host (Vercel), which delivers the website to your browser
- Loom, which hosts the parent video testimonials on our site
- Google Fonts, which provides the fonts on our site
When the page loads, these providers may receive basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Website visits
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits to our website, for example how many people visited, which pages they viewed, and which site sent them. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally.
If you arrive through a link we shared (for example on Instagram or in a newsletter), the link may include a label showing where it was posted. If you then take the reading assessment, we save that label with your information so we know which posts help families find us.
Cookies
Our website itself does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The booking calendar and video players embedded on the page come from the providers above and may set their own cookies to work properly.
Emails and your choices
- Unsubscribe: every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also reply and ask us to stop.
- See, correct or delete your information: email jessica@readingplayground.com and we will help.
How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as you're in touch with us or using our services, and as needed for our records. When you ask us to delete it, we will, unless we need to keep something by law.
Keeping information safe
We use reputable providers and take reasonable steps to protect your information. No website or email system is completely secure, so please don't send us sensitive information we haven't asked for.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
